Our Arbequina & Empeltre olive juice is obtained through a first cold mechanical extraction by means of a modern centrifuge to retain as much as possible of the original scent and taste. A second centrifuge helps to separate the oil from the juice (alpechín), making use of the difference in specific gravity.

Arbequina olive trees grow on the lower altitudes of the hills surrounding La Franja near the village of Mequinenza. Look closely howvere and you'll spot intruders, trees of a differnet appearance. These belong to the Empeltre variety, and are native to the region of Aragón, right across the river.
The trees grew from seeds dropped by birds, small sparrows (called estornell in Catalan) which have a tremendous appetite for good olives.
Empeltre olives are big and black, and its buttery, dark yellow oil has a taste of sweet almonds. The design on our labels was aimed to catch the perfect harmony between the black Empeltre olive and the pink Arbequina.
We offer this beautiful oil in a variety of containers from the 25cl glass bottle that makes a great gift, to the larger-sized 2 litre PET bottle.
